| Information: | The IBM Magnetic Card was introduced with the Magnetic Card Selectric Typewriter (MC/ST). It has fifty tracks, laid out longitudinally, 100 character codes long. Each recorded code corresponds to a character (Aplphameric or Control). The original card could hold the equivalent of one typed page. Capacity was later increased.
The cards were used in a number of Selectric typewriter models, with a separate read / write console, as well as input medium for the IBM 6640 Inkjet printer and a data transfer medium between MC based products and the IBM Office System/6. |
