Description:

Buffered Punch Card Data Recorder

Information:

The IBM 129 was the last 80 column card punch developed by IBM. It shares many of the mechanical features of the earlier 029 and 024/026. There were three models:

  • A combined card punch and verifier
  • Punch only with printing
  • Combined punch and verify with printing

This model is the punch / verify / print version. The 129 utilizes buffered storage, allowing all 80 columns to be entered before actually punching the card. The programme drum of earlier card punches is replaced with buffered storage space for up to 6 programmes. Once punched the cards can be read into storage for verification.
